Fine Gardener

What exactly is a fine gardener?

Well, there is no one definition, but people in the green industry understand that such a person incorporates the following traits:

  1. First of all, we absolutely love plants.  Plants have got to be the most fascinating creation on Earth.  We never tire of learning about them and are always on the lookout for the something new and cool.

  2. To us, plants are the absolutely most important part of any landscape design.  After all, of what use is a beautifully designed yard if your plants are either the wrong ones or are not well cared-for?

  3. Our idea of fun is to spend hours online or in a nursery learning about plants and how to use and care for them.

What separates us from amateurs?

What separates a professional gardener from an amateur is that we have killed more plants than most people.  Way, way more plants.  Rather than discouraging us, we are motivated to figure out what went wrong and how not to do it in the future.

Finally, we love to share our knowledge and enthusiasm with our friends.  This includes introducing children to the joys of gardening.   We know that absolutely anyone can be a gardener with the right knowledge and guidance and a little patience.   How about you?

How to Begin?

Before you call in a fine gardener, you should at least think about the following 4 questions. It's OK if you don't have the answers, but at least you should be thinking about the questions, like:

  1. What do you really want?

  2. Where is the sun?

  3. How will it be watered?

  4. Who will maintain it?
